Rift, 90 x 123cm, Acrylic on Canvas
These paintings were intuitive and meditative. Rift was painted to envision the idea of how stars affect us and our beliefs and what we feel connected too. It is also connected to the loss of a friend who took his life and the conflict in my mind of where he would go depending on which religion and spiritual path you looked to. The left face from the centre has his colours ebb downwards, the figure on the right has theirs stretching up and the centre shows a being illuminated amongst trees, standing under the same moon that they do. Gold and rust hues bring a further ethereal quality to the piece.

Port, 123 x 90 cm, Acrylic on Canvas
My Bestefar (Grandpa) who worked for NASA described this piece best: ” A swirly, swooshing, space thingy”. That’s the vision that came to mind and that’s what I put down. I like to think of it as placed above a village, which is hinted at in the blues below and in turn acts as some form of link between worlds. Though, other days I see it as something much more vast and volatile, and others I see an intricate balance of energy and potential.
